With the New Year well underway, we know most of you will be looking for some Winter Sun and there’s no better place to get a nice healthy dose of Vitamin D (and Vitamin Sea) than the British Virgin Islands in  2023. In the spirit of enjoying our lovely BVI winter sun, we wanted to share 7 of our top things to do in the British Virgin Islands this January.

  1. E-Foiling lessons – It’s only recently the BVI have jumped on the e-foiling bandwagon and it’s certainly something you should get into. Lessons take place at Oil Nut Bay marina with Deep Bay Watersports located in the lavish North Sound of Virgin Gorda. For those who might not be so familiar with E-foiling, it’s quite the experience and a unique mix of where surfing meets snowboarding and an unparalleled feeling of flying over the water. Lessons are 2 hours long and cater for beginners to experts and will be a one of a kind experience.
  2. Sundowners and Dinner at CocomayaCocomaya is a local favourite and one of the best dining experiences in the BVI. The restaurant sits moments from the iconic Baths on Virgin Gorda offering guests a mouth-watering fusion of South-East Asia, Latin America with a touch of Caribbean using authentic and fresh ingredients where possible. It’s utterly delicious. The vibe is relaxed beach chic fully equipped with a bar swing, giant jenga, its own private beach and a DJ that will get you up and dancing at the weekend and not forgetting that it’s one of the BVI’s  top sunset spots.  Cocomaya is family friendly and fun for all ages so don’t forget to book your table when you book your trip.
  3. Diving at Cooper Island – A dive day at Cooper Island is 100% something you need to book when visiting the BVI. A quick 20 minute boat trip with Sail Caribbean Divers arrives at Cooper Island beach club around 815am.  Grab yourself a coffee and a pastry and make camp on the private beach whilst you wait for your diving instructor.  The PADI qualified team offer small dive groups allowing for a more intimate experience in the underwater world.  For those who don’t want to dive, you can enjoy the tranquility of the shop, the beach and the bar before rejoining the divers for  lunch followed by a cheeky cocktail at the Rum Bar before heading back to Tortola.
  4. Surfing at Josiah’s Bay – You can’t visit Tortola and not have a go at surfing. Whether you’ve never tried surfing before or a seasoned expert, Josiah’s Bay is one of the best places to learn to surf and is an absolute gem of a beach. You couldn’t be in better hands with the BVI Surf School for your surfing experience
  5. Spa day at  the Rosewood –  Treat yourself to a day of pure luxury and book in a spa day at The Rosewood  Little Dix Bay. On arrival you’ll be transported to The Sense Spa in the resort where you’re greeted with a healthy juice shot and a view to die for. Before or after your treatment you can enjoy a drink and nibbles by the pool leaving you in a state of pure relaxation. If time allows, pop over to The Reef House for a beachside lunch/dinner. P.S May I add that both the Rosewood Signature facial and Sense Signature massage are excellent!
  6. Charter a powerboat with IslandTime and see the BVI from the water which is the only way to experience such a beautiful part of the world. Stop off at Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island or head over to the North Sound and visit the likes of Saba Rock, Bitter End Yacht Club whilst you enjoy the views of Moskito Island, Necker Island and more.
  7. Jost Van Dyke is home to the infamous Soggy Dollar bar where everyone’s favourite painkiller cocktail was invented. It’s also home to some other BVI hotspots such as Foxy’s and Hendo’s Hideout and we couldn’t recommend a cheeky little bar crawl with a spot of lunch. You can also visit the Sandy Spit, an uninhabited tiny island that you can walk around on in minutes. You’ll likely be the only ones there, which is a pretty special moment.

We hope this paints you a nice picture of the luxury lifestyle you live whether you decide to relocate or simply visit. View our outstanding property collection and pay us a visit
