The North Sound area of Virgin Gorda is a boaters’ paradise, a protected body of water offering fabulous anchorages adjacent to several resort properties. Over the past ten years, North Sound has developed into one of the leading ultra-high-end destinations in the Caribbean.
Why is it primed for growth?
After Hurricane Irma in 2017, North Sound was badly impacted with some of the main resorts being closed. Now Bitter End Yacht Club and Saba Rock Resort are due to re-open in spring 2021, creating new destinations for the many yacht- and land-based tourists.
My favourite bits:
The view from Gorda Peak overlooking North Sound, and especially the myriad colours of the sea. On the water, watching the sailing yachts and superyachts at anchor or moving amongst the many islands including Necker, Eustatia, Mosquito and Prickly Pear.
What will my money buy me?
Leverick Bay has homes from US$1 million while units at Marina Village at Oil Nut Bay start just below US$3 million. Ultra-wealthy individuals seeking an exclusive home in North Sound should be prepared to spend more than US$10 million.
One thing the locals like to keep secret:
Hog Heaven is a local bar and restaurant overlooking North Sound that offers some of the best views. Sit back with a cocktail or two – enjoy.
