The reopening of the Virgin Gorda International Airport (Taddy Bay Aerodrome) was timed for the holiday traffic, and is welcomed by pilots and residents. The airport restarted operations December 6.
Closed for the past 11-plus months, crews have made improvements to the airport in order to bring it into full compliance with Air Safety Support International regulations. A lot of the people who rent villas on Virgin Gorda fly directly into the airport there, as opposed to going into Beef Island.
Airlines that fly into and out of Virgin Gorda International Airport include Air Sunshine, Fly BVI, and Island Birds, along with other private and charter aircraft.
