The Government are to invest almost $700,000 to provide a new recreational park for the residents and those taking their BVI VACATION on Virgin Gorda.
Hon. Myron Walwyn, Education and Culture Minister and At Large Representative said the total cost committed by the Government to date on the new recreational park in The Valley, Virgin Gorda is $471,707.26.
Tenders for the additional site works are due to be opened on April 30, 2013, and are expected to be in the region of $100,000.
Hon. Julian Fraser, Third District Representative then asked if the Minister could provide the House with the budgeted cost for the project, and the Minister said it would be somewhere in the region of $700,000.
‘Children have limited areas to play; older persons have no proper place to walk and have leisurely exercise. So it was placed in the budget to help assist and answer the requests of many residents in that community for adequate recreational facilities,’ the Minister concluded.
