The 18th graduation of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College takes place on June 9th. The ceremony will commence at 4.00pm on the lawns of the Paraquita Bay Campus and the public are invited to attend. Overall, the 2011 class consists of 221 students, with 173 graduating from various HLSCC offerings and 48 from the Chartered Management Institute programmes available through the College.
Premier Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal and Chairman of the College’s Board of Governors Dr. Charles Wheatley will deliver greetings to the graduates. Vice President Dr. Anne Monroe will also deliver brief remarks introducing the 2011 class, while President Dawson will award certificates and bestow degrees to the graduating students.
HLSCC was established in 1990 as the British Virgin Islands Community College. The institution was subsequently renamed in honor of the founding chairman of the College’s Board of Governors, the late Chief Minister Hon. H. Lavity Stoutt. The first graduation exercise was held in 1994.
The class includes two pairs of mothers and daughters, one mother and son, and one pair of twin sisters. One student who is graduating with a 4.0 grade point average, and this years Student respondent Lvella Tephanie Titley, who is graduating with the Associate Degree in Science, Business Administration, and Accounting Concentration.
